Wupa Art Trail 2018-19
The 2018-19 Art Trail runs from 17th November 2018 to 31 May 2019. This free Aboriginal art trail takes you on a journey through the vineyards of the Hunter Valley and on to the beautiful Mercure at Newcastle Airport. Exhibiting at seven venues – with most exhibits in the popular Pokolbin wine region – this year’s art trail is showcasing more than 100 pieces of contemporary and traditional artwork produced by experienced and emerging Aboriginal artists from the local Wanaruah people and surrounding areas.
Organised by Ungooroo Aboriginal Corporation, a not-for-profit organisation run to benefit local Aboriginal people, this exhibition is sponsored this year by Mach Energy and Glencore.
For the visitors the Wupa@Wanaruah is an insight into the rich and vibrant culture of local Aboriginal people. For the artists it allows thems] to express their culture, connect to country, gain valuable experience connecting with audiences and develop career pathways.
